ABSTRACT

Leadership is a game of understanding humans beneath the words as well as occasionally the words themselves, but the emphasis must be on behaviour rather than words. Developing sensitivity towards, as well as an aptitude to flourish within, chaos is one of the essential qualities of great leadership. The leader, especially one involved in a field or project where pioneering and entrepreneurship will be their driving tools to success, lacks the safety net of established order. The arrogance of certainty has been the downfall of many great human beings, leaders and non-leaders alike. The essence of great leadership is the ability to live truthfully under a set of given circumstances. Social constraints are excellent for keeping order, but leaders must deal both with order and chaos. Unconscious habits and behaviour can be the death of good leadership.
