ABSTRACT

The Internet of Things (IoT) Security Foundation is a non-profit organization that has been dedicated to driving security excellence since 2014. Although a book on application security for appsec professionals and software development teams and managers can barely scratch the surface of the security, societal, ethical, and legal issues related to autonomous vehicles, they’re included as a frontier for software professionals for completeness. In July 2019, the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) published a roadmap for IoT security: The Core Cybersecurity Feature Baseline for Securable IoT Devices: A Starting Point for IoT Device Manufacturers as NISTIR 8259. Web application firewalls are a control mechanism that operates in front of the web server load balancer. Creative applications of Blockchain increase its appeal, but sometimes a system is turned against itself, as is the case with crypto-mining bot-controlled malware that steals computing resources for brute-force computations.
