ABSTRACT

This chapter provides details of the experimental strategy: geometric configuration of the experimental models, material details, instrumentation and the characteristics of seismic loading used for the experimental work. The reason behind this is that even for very small amplitude seismic loading, concrete structures are expected to form micro-cracks which eventually influence the dynamic characteristics of the structure. The planar and vertical regularity of a structure is an important control index of structural seismic design, which eventually has an impact on the seismic response of asymmetric structure. The structural properties of high-rise buildings under seismic actions are usually carried out on a shaking table using the same scale model as the prototype model. For a better comparison of the seismic responses, the instrumentations were arranged at both the Flexible side and Stiff side of the structure so as to monitor the response at both the edges of the structure.
