ABSTRACT

The eight-node iso-parametric solid and truss elements having several integration points in each direction are utilized to complete the numerical modeling. In a nutshell, the numerical and experimental results are in reasonably good agreement to a certain extent and this indicates that the numerical model can be used for comparison purposes and for further development of the studies on behavior of the local seismic response. The local responses from the Stiff side (SS) were also obtained to compare the behavior of local response at the SS and Flexible side altogether. Structural responses using white noise excitation were obtained, which were then transformed into frequency response functions to calculate structural dynamic properties. The local response of the structure was investigated in finite element model. The responses were first compared with experimentally obtained strain responses at strategic locations. The responses were recorded in a similar manner as they were recorded during the experiment within the same structural component.
