ABSTRACT

Chapter 4 begins with a clinical narrative carefully illustrating a kind of attention to the fluid micro-patterning of polyrhythmic exchange described in previous chapters. Interaction dynamics are brought into greater focus for their complexity and challenge to the analyst as these dynamics are shaped by cultural assumptions, practices and discourses. The analyst’s vulnerability, shaped by the limits of thinking, categorizing and recognition, is illustrated and assisted with the introduction of a nonlinear dynamic model emphasizing the concept of tipping point as a useful, if temporary, categorical frame for such experience, which is otherwise quite complex, uncertain and therefore difficult to narrate.
