ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the causes, diagnosis, and investigation of symptoms for both abdominal and pelvic masses, as well as general abdominal swelling. It provides a general practitioner overview, differential diagnosis, possible investigations and top tips for various symptoms related to abdominal and pelvic masses. The symptoms include abdominal swelling, acute abdominal pain in adults, acute abdominal pain in children, acute abdominal pain in pregnancy, chronic/recurrent abdominal pain in adults, constipation, diarrhoea in adults, diarrhoea in children, epigastric pain, loin pain, recurrent childhood abdominal pain, vomiting, vomiting blood, and vomiting in infants. The differential diagnosis includes common, occasional, and rare causes.
