ABSTRACT

Organizations must provide access to growth and development opportunities they need to be successful. The best organizations continually address Right, Right, Right. Organizations that are the most effective in translating strategy to execution make explicit decisions about the values that align with their strategy, and the capabilities and skills necessary to execute the strategy. The critical issue is to be clear up front about what values your organization needs to support the execution of your strategy. If “teamwork” is vital to success, and you hire and promote independent go-getters, you’ll likely find yourself frustrated when those people don’t play well together. “This Conversation” gives the team member the guidance he/she needs to develop their capabilities and prepare for the future role. And, while the leader can support the team member, the ball is left in the team member’s court to take advantage of development opportunities.
