ABSTRACT

The essay outlines how humanity is driving the anthropocene transformation of the planet. It focuses on the capitalist way of life and the exploitation of fossil natural resources, especially through the development of new technologies. These processes were based on a culture/nature dualism that promoted the exploitation of nature as a resource. The article demonstrates how, against the background of this dualism, a cultural transformation of the planet’s nature took place. In the course of this development, however, technological infrastructures are emerging in the form of a “Technosphere” that turns human beings formerly equipped with agency into natural objects.
