ABSTRACT

It is important for an electrical engineering student to know the components of a transmission line (TL) and how the physical construction of a TL is done. Thus, Chapter 2 initially shows the composition of a large electrical system featuring TLs with voltages ranging from 230 kV to 750 kV operating in an interconnected system. Then the main components of the TLs, such as types of structures, conductors and ground wires, insulators and fittings are presented. Then, through various illustrative figures, the steps of constructing a TL are shown. At the end of the chapter, we explain the corona effect.
