ABSTRACT

Tracking regulatory requirements can be a daunting task for companies operating in a regulated environment. The ability to identify and track new regulations as well as changes to existing regulations is paramount to a company’s ability to stay in compliance. A cornerstone of any successful and sustainable environmental compliance program is the ability to identify and track requirements. From a regulatory compliance standpoint, a company’s ability to maintain compliance is directly related to their ability to track and stay current with all applicable requirements. While there are a variety of resources available to assist companies in tracking proposed regulations, legislations and regulatory updates, there is a need to systematically manage this information. Establishing a requirements-based management system that captures applicable regulatory requirement documents, responsible organizational elements, subject matter experts and the associated company implementing procedure is a cornerstone to building a sustainable compliance program.
