ABSTRACT

The idea of introducing a mantra is so the child can reinforce belief in themselves and continue to work on their issue both in the conscious state as well as the hypnotic state. For the purposes of assertiveness training mantras, the author usually suggest that mantras should be no more than three to four words. In the circle, participants say the mantra out loud but walk in time to the words. The person whose mantra it is leads the circle and the rest of the group walk in pairs. They find a rhythm and then get quicker; they stomp rather than walk. The idea of stomping is to encourage motivation and determination. Younger children seem to like stomping around a circus ring; teenagers who enjoy exercising/sports often imagine a football pitch, a cricket ground, a running track in an athletic stadium or an ice-skating rink.
