ABSTRACT

Africa is an essential part of Chinese economic foreign policy and development of China’s so-called New Silk Road. This chapter explores other locations around the world that invite conflicting foreign actors into their state as a part of their aid-seeking strategy. It aims to understand how the states behave given their position in the international system as well as their geostrategic location. The chapter discusses environmental insecurity: Oceania. Like Bangladesh, the states may suffer serious environmental trouble given climate change. A plethora of non-state threats, including a serious refugee crisis, may occur alongside the disappearance of entire states. Caribbean island states are also subject to serious environmental vulnerability. Notwithstanding the incredible damage posed by natural disasters, the states’ dependence on tourism compounds the cost. Georgia and the United States also carry out military exercises furthering their partnership. Such cooperation has only been strengthened by the Russian–Ukrainian conflict as Georgia is the first victim to Russian expansionist policy.
