ABSTRACT

The finite element method is a powerful tool for the analysis of engineering problems, and the key to getting reliable results lies with the generation of input data which truly represents the various phenomena associated with welding. This requires a good understanding of the phenomena and the mathematical techniques to express them as input data. The book attempts to give a young researcher a step by step procedure for the conduct of transient thermal analysis of arc welding process using ANSYS software. It is hoped that the inputs given in the book will be useful for developing the “know how” and “know why” of the analysis.
