The final analysis chapter deals with gaming as a social activity and seeks to understand the various online and offline relationships that players maintain by examining the participants’ friends, communities and networks in gaming spaces. The various kinds of relationships that were forged by players with regard to video games were classified either as online or offline.

This chapter understands the various dimensions of gaming’s social elements from both offline scenarios to online ones as it looks to channels of in-game communication as well as social networking platforms. By integrating the social dimension into our understanding of gamers and gaming communities, we are thus able to arrive at a holistic understanding of both gaming culture as well as the various roles that a gamer must perform.
