ABSTRACT
This chapter shares a personal reflection on the history and future of the field of Western American studies. The chapter first proposes a review of the different trends, past and present, within the Western Literature Association. Next, it offers a review of its development in the last decade. The author then moves to propose some thoughts on how to “reframe the field” and ends with the presentation of her hopes for the future for Western American studies.
