ABSTRACT

Standardization refers to the consistency or uniformity of the conditions and procedures for administering a psychological test. Appropriate testing procedures are designed into a test by its developers, but maintaining standardized conditions is the responsibility of the persons administering the test. Therefore, the training of test administrators in proper procedures is vital. Objectivity refers primarily to the scoring of the test results. For a test to be scored objectively, the scoring process must be free of subjective judgments or biases on the part of scorers; anyone scoring the test will obtain the same result. To interpret the results of a psychological test, a frame of reference or point of comparison must be established so that the performance of one person can be compared with the performance of others. This is accomplished by means of the test norms, the distribution of scores of a large group of people similar in nature to the job applicants being tested.
