ABSTRACT

In PASW, variables are represented as columns in the data file. Participants are represented as rows. There are four types of measurement scales: nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio. While the measurement scale will determine which statistical technique is appropriate for a given set of data, PASW generally does not discriminate. PASW can also be used to compute a new variable or manipulate students existing variables. PASW can create a new variable based upon data from another variable. The diagonal lines through some cases will also be evident when a subset is selected. Be careful not to save their data file with a subset selected, as this can cause considerable confusion later. This file will contain data for four participants and three variables (Q1, Q2, and Q3).
