ABSTRACT
To write effectively and score well on writing tests, you must be acquainted with the patterns of the language you use, particularly the patterns found in educational and business articles and reports. This and several later chapters provide practice on standard written English patterns, which cause difficulty for beginning writers and are frequently included on writing tests. Comma splices, run-on sentences, and fragments are covered here.
