ABSTRACT

In the past several chapters we have made no distinguishing remarks between documentation of companies who are admitted mass producers, and job shops. The distinguishing differences between them have become hazier over the years since customers have become more demanding of changes even to standard products. Generally, however, it appears to be that some specific manufacturers can be classified as job shop one-of-a-kind producers. Some examples of this type of manufacturing are:

Fossil-fired boilers

Nuclear reactors

Special steel mill products

Large gas turbines

Large compressors
