ABSTRACT
If a design retrieval system is indeed an important tool and factor in modernizing engineering systems and documentation flow, why aren't such systems more popular? Why do so comparatively few companies utilize more modern classification systems. An investigation of some possible reasons for this reluctance will do much not only to help to understand why such systems are so comparatively rare, but also to provide some insight into the reasons why all engineering documentation systems have not kept up with modern technology.
