ABSTRACT

Planned and systematic design reviews are an effective means for reducing the risks associated with the introduction of new or revised products. It brings together specialists and knowledgeable generalists for the purpose of optimizing the design. Design reviews provide an opportunity for bringing questions and various points of view about a product into the open. They also allow the company to benefit from the experiences of its senior personnel. This improves the chances that a new project will avoid the problems of previous ones. In addition, the design review process allows the specialists to examine whether or not 167the product was designed in accordance with the applicable requirements and to see if the proper design methods were used.
