ABSTRACT

In Chapter 2 we discussed various types of grippers used in robot applications. End-of-arm tools are devices such as welding guns, drills, and spray guns which are manipulated by a robot arm to perform specific tasks. In this chapter we will discuss a number of end-of-arm tooling components. First we will treat wrist mechanisms which help to manipulate the tools appropriately. Next we will provide a case study of quick-change wrist adaptors for improving the application of end-of-arm tools. Other robotic interchangeable tooling is discussed next. This is followed by a description of an aerospace drill. Finally, we will provide the features and application of workpiece positioners.
