ABSTRACT

The pursuit of excellence is probably the noblest ambition in all of business. It focuses on the needs of others. It sets high and enriching standards for the entire organization. It bonds all the players together in pursuit of worthy, common objectives. It is also true that the pursuit of excellence in any meaningful way is rare in today’s business world driven as it is by short-term objectives, demands of third parties purporting to represent the interests of employees, stockholders, communities, various citizen groups, and a host of others. Yet all these interests fit within the context of pursuit of total organizational excellence.
