ABSTRACT

JOURNAL: The kid was right. It seems like a long time ago that we were on that plane together. A lot of water has gone over the dam. I wasn’t able to get his words out of my head. As I talked to people I found myself discussing and listening in terms of that vision that he was urging me on about. As I asked “vision” kinds of questions and somewhat tentatively put out visionary kinds of ideas I sensed a response in the people, my fellow-employees, as the kid would say. Sometimes I felt like I was standing on top of a volcano. The earth seemed to rumble a bit. I got the idea that there is a lot of power down there just waiting to be tapped. A bit frightening actually. It occurred to me that this is the kind of stuff that revolutions are made of. Some lunatic senses all of that energy and finds a way to tap into it and changes the course of history. Then it dawned on me that not all revolutionaries are lunatics. That’s just the way we “establishment types” always seem to think of those who would change the shape of things. Guess that makes me a flaming-eyed revolutionary. Now that I understand that, I feel a little more comfortable—I think. Now I can focus on how to tap that energy.
