ABSTRACT

Early in the resin selection process, the end user or designer will have reviewed the physical property requirements of a polymer for a proposed application, as well as its predicted performance in the environment to which it will be exposed. Early in the resin selection process, the end user or designer will have reviewed the physical property requirements of a polymer for a proposed application, as well as its predicted performance in the environment to which it will be exposed. One of the benefits of the early cost estimating exercise on the part of the end user, in addition to a comparison of part costs for different raw materials, is to get some concept of the economic feasibility of making a profit from the proposed plastic part. Benefit of the cost estimating effort is to eliminate any gross cost disadvantage that might evolve from a resin under consideration.
