ABSTRACT
Motorcycle accidents occur at about 2.6 times the rate of automobile accidents, on a per-mile-driven basis. This chapter examines some of the reasons for this; analysis is given to explain the difficulty of judging the distance and speed of an approaching motorcycle at night because of its single headlight, and also the apparent lack of visual perception by other drivers during daylight.
