ABSTRACT

Winter concreting is impossible without a heat supply to the site. Weather and climatic conditions, the temperature and humidity in the rooms for the personnel, and the temperature conditions while placed concrete is being cured must be monitored at all times in winter concreting. Comfort should be provided for engineers, technicians, and workers in the wintertime. To minimize the expected difficulties and to ensure high quality of concrete structures to be erected in winter with the least additional costs, the concreting in winter conditions should be carefully prepared in advance. Weekly forecasts make it possible to select a proper concrete curing method well in advance and to prepare everything required for this purpose. The concreting can be carried out at any ambient air temperature but it becomes more difficult and costly as the temperature drops. The methods shown in the diagram, which are used to make concrete harden in the frost, are basic.
