ABSTRACT

The method of electric preheating of concrete mixtures was proposed by Prof. A. S. Arbeniev and was a logical outcome of investigations directed towards expanding the range of the thermos method. Fast placing of a heated concrete mixture minimizes the heat loss and helps to maintain its highest possible temperature at this stage of concreting. Accelerated electric heating of a concrete mixture to be then placed and compacted while hot can affect the microstructure and the macrostructure of the material just like any other method of thermal treatment. Electric current passing through a concrete mixture generates electric and. magnetic fields. The reason was redistribution of heat inside the nonuniform multicomponent system, that is the concrete mixture. The plastic properties of concrete mixtures are one of the most important characteristics for the selection of vibratory mechanisms and of conditions of compaction.
