ABSTRACT

The method utilized was developed for semi-positive displacement pumps which pumped very close to the same flow at any given head condition. Determination of design flows and the resulting hydraulic analysis are fundamental to the design of a pressure sewer system. The design method was developed for centrifugal pump pressure sewer systems, and this method is based upon the anticipated wastewater generation from the number of homes served. On at least one occasion, the Probability Method was utilized to establish design flows for a centrifugal pump pressure sewer system at Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. The new criteria utilize the Rational Method as explained in the following text. In the design of the Glide Pressure Sewer System in Douglas County, Oregon, Bowne has used a method of determining design flows that was developed by the Battelle Institute. Demographic projections can have a great deal of importance when designing pressure sewer systems.
