ABSTRACT
This chapter contains sample specifications used by agencies experienced in asbestos projects. A careful review of these samples will provide an excellent basis for the preparation of new contract documents for most removal projects. The Contractor and Certified Industrial Hygienist shall meet with the Contracting Officer prior to beginning work, to discuss in detail the asbestos plan, including work procedures and safety precautions. The Industrial Hygienist shall notify the Contractor and the Contracting Officer immediately of any variance in the pressure differential which could cause adjacent unsealed areas to have asbestos fiber concentrations in excess of 0.01 fibers per cubic centimeter. The Industrial Hygienist shall notify the Contractor and the Contracting Officer immediately of any exposures to asbestos fibers in excess of the acceptable limits. Notify the Contracting Officer three working days prior to the start of asbestos work.
