ABSTRACT

In Chapter 5 we were concerned with comparisons involving two samples. The techniques presented were used to compare the mean of a treated sample vs the mean of a control sample or to compare the means of two treated samples. The more common case in biological research is to include several treatment groups in the same experiment. Although the novice may suggest using multiple t-tests, such an approach is neither appropriate nor computationally simple when the number of groups being tested is large.
