The Relative Clause

It is as well to remember that the noun head in our clause is what the clause is about. The relative clause, traditionally called the adjectival clause because it modifies a noun, is typically a postmodifier to the noun head. Relative clauses are traditionally divided into defining and non-defining relative, as in (15) above, and (19) below respectively.
