ABSTRACT

This chapter provides some guidelines to make the process of introduction easier and also some of the basic features of Systems Engineer (SE) management which are essential. Configuration management consists of configuration identification, control, verification, and accounting. Strong management is essential for the execution of an SE program. An SE program recommends up-front staffing with the expectation of downstream savings. SE management should plan for and acquire this staffing to make it work. The SE manager should assure that the SE tasks are integrated into the balance of the program. Risk management will identify many areas of program cost, schedule, and technical risk and give the manager the information with which to make educated decisions. Quality design reviews are undoubtedly the most important aspect of SE management. Technical Performance Measurement is a management tool for tracking and managing requirements compliance of selected parameters.
