ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the global supply chain since it is the sources of the greatest risks and is in need of the greatest degree of management, both technically and organizationally. The existence of multiple regulatory agencies adds complexity and variability to the connections of the global supply chain system. Commercial aircraft are part of other large-scale system, such as the global navigation system and the air traffic control system. Rigorous supplier management is the key factor in achieving stability in the supply chain system. The fewer organizational interfaces the more stable the system. There is another method for analyzing the node and web architecture and for minimizing complexity of systems that includes both humans and technological elements. The products produced by suppliers are called hard systems. Sillitto says that hard systems exist within soft systems. This multiplicity of system types is the factor that makes the supply chain complex.
