Ann has big visions. ‘No more paper,’ she says. ‘Everything will go into one system. Clients will enter their own data.’
Do you have a view on costs and timescale?’ you ask. ‘Outsource it,’ she says, abruptly. ‘Freelancers could do it in four months.’
‘But there are integration issues, training issues…’ You run out of words.
Ann pauses, her hand on the door knob. ‘I need it doing, not excuses,’ she says firmly. ‘I need a plan by the end of next week.’And with that she’s off.
You stare out of the window for a while. Is she right? Or will it be an expensive fiasco? Only time will tell. You sigh.
