ABSTRACT
The beginning stage for micro or farm analysis is the biological production function. The production function is then stated as the relationship between a single product and a single resource describing the output level observed as the level of input is varied. One of the more simple production functions observable in the production of certain species, such as catfish, is that of temperature, which has a strong effect on fish growth rates. Some decision-making pointers may be derived from the production function. The biologist is concerned with the production response curve for fish as feed, seed stock, water quality parameters, and other factors are varied. The production function is a technical relationship concerning inputs and outputs at a given time using existing technology. A producer who bases production decisions upon average or total production and revenue principles will earn less profit than a producer who uses marginal analysis.
