ABSTRACT

The Albanian Socialist Party formed an election pact with the Social Democratic Party of Albania (SDPA) and the Albanian Democratic Alliance Party. The Socialists formed a coalition government with representatives from the Social Democratic Party, the Democratic Alliance, the Agrarian Party, and the Union for Human Rights. The Socialist bloc Alliance for the State included the Social Democrats, the Democratic Alliance, the Union for Human Rights, the Agrarians, and the National Unity Party. The Democratic bloc Union for Democracy included the Movement of Legality Party, the Christian Democratic Party, the Liberals, the National Front, and the Democratic Union Party. The Socialists formed a new government in coalition with several smaller, allied parties, including the Social Democratic Party, the Democratic Alliance, the Agrarian Party, and the Union for Human Rights. The SDPA was established during 1991, just as the March general elections were taking place.
