ABSTRACT

The procedure for exposure assessment includes such activities as making field observations or taking measurements, conducting laboratory exposure studies, performing transport and fate modeling and conducting literature searches. These activities may be done alone or in combination with each other. The most appropriate approach is determined on a case-by-case basis. To assess the significance of an exposure the items in Table 7.1 must be determined and understood. Typically however detailed assessments are not possible due to the fact that some or all of this information is not available.
