ABSTRACT

The fundamental difference between leadership and management is that “You manage within a paradigm. Transformational leaders are trailblazers, knowing when and how to lead between paradigms. Just as Moses led the Israelites out of slavery into the promised land of milk and honey, transformational leaders must have the ability to see beyond current reality and envision a better future. The goal of transformational leadership is to methodically guide the organization through the adoption of the new paradigm to where it becomes self-sustaining and people accept and practice the change willingly. Leaders have the power to set the agenda. Transformational leaders must clearly articulate their vision and be open and flexible to its scrutiny by the vision community. It is only through a process of sharing and discussion that leaders can inspire and enlist the support of their followers, creating a “vision community.”.
