ABSTRACT

Suicide is the act of death that is seen and/or meant to result from a conscious initiation of activity by the individual that was intended to bring about his/ her own demise. Women’s sexuality may be seen as problematic within a patriarchal society because it is necessary to guarantee the legitimate reproduction of men in order to secure the economic basis of society. The differentiation has to be due to suicidal intent. Beck, Resnik, and Lettieri developed this in a suicidal intent scale by relying on a feeling of hopelessness and sense of control. Suicidal ideation as a necessary prerequisite of other forms of suicidal behaviour has been reported in all communities. Mass suicidal war can be a paradoxical attempt at rejuvenating the self-esteem of the nation. Worldwide fear replaced the magic fear of the primitive world and mass scares have become much more transferable; one only has to look at the threats of virus attacks on the web.
