ABSTRACT

Jet grouting methods have initially been developed in Japan, the UK and Italy. The term ‘grouting zone’ is replaced by the term ‘jet grouted structure’ in order to stress the basic difference of common and jet grouting. A comparison of the costs of common and of jet grouting is difficult. It is occasionally stated that jet grouting would be less costly. The range of application of jet grouting is limited mainly by the strength of the substratum to be eroded. This is one of the main differences between common and jet grouting. The site installation for jet grouting is in part different from that for conventional grouting. The individual elements should form a coherent body, like the grouting zone with common grouting. The batching plant is similar to that for common grouting. It consists of silos, dosing equipment, colloidal mixers, agitators, measuring and recording devices.
