ABSTRACT
The selection of an appropriate process is an important decision, as all the subsequent work depends upon the choice. Consider process selection using the simple Block Diagrams in conjunction with the Process Flow Diagram which includes relevent process data such as temperatures, pressures, flow-rates, and any stream compositions. The selection of a process route for production of a chemical depends upon the following, necessarily complete or comprehensive, list of questions and considerations. Once the process selection has been made, then it is necessary to provide a detailed description of the particular process and especially the main features and advantages and disadvantages. The description must be as detailed as possible at this stage and must reference all useful publications and include any available data. The Equipment List should include all currently available information that will be useful for the detailed design of the equipment.
