ABSTRACT

A uniform H-type cavity with an axially symmetric beam channel and cylindrical body is schematically represented. Recognizing the axial asymmetry of the last domain one may conclude that the calculation of the coefficients in such series and their summation will be an almost unsolvable problem. These difficulties can be avoided by the method of equivalent circuits or the method of cavity analogue. A cavity analog of an H-type resonator is chosen on the basis of known experimental data about the topography of the magnetic field in such systems. H-type cavities with an axially asymmetric beam channel may be used to accelerate band ion beams. The capacitance of an accelerating gap, made as a grid of rods or frames of rods, may be determined using a relation for the wave impedance of a symmetric strip line with cylindrical central conductor.
