ABSTRACT

This chapter expands on the concepts and methods presented in Chapter 6 by examining an article-length report of the results of a survey on multi-major professional communication courses. Following the full text of the article, the commentary explores how its authors went about writing it, examining its purpose, audience, and organization. The commentary also includes a detailed analysis of the design of the survey questions and the selection of the survey population. Finally, the commentary notes that the authors do not discuss the survey report in terms response rate, margin of error, and confidence interval because they were not able to determine the response rate and do not claim that their sample is representative of the larger population.
