ABSTRACT

Corrosion inhibitors are one of the most used methods for the protection of metallic materials. Recently, MOFs have been widely investigated as corrosion inhibitors to protect metals and alloys from aggressive corrosive environments. MOFs are attractive due to their excellent stability, solubility, eco-friendliness and good inhibition efficiency at low concentrations. Here, we provided a detailed account of different MOFs-based corrosion inhibitors reported for steel, copper, and magnesium-based metallic materials in different corrosive solutions. Overall, this chapter is expected to guide the innovation and development of more advanced functional MOFs as corrosion inhibitors.
