ABSTRACT

Thus far in this book, we have looked at the ways that shamans operate in different cultures and how these ideas might be applied to the work of helpers and healers. Yet we know that one of the distinct privileges of being a helper is that the things that we do to assist others are equally effective with ourselves. In fact, the more helpers and healers are able to apply in their own lives that which they teach their students and clients, the more credibility they have, and the more skill with which they are able to apply these principles to helping others. Likewise, in looking at the practice of shamanism, all of the things that we have been talking about not only can be applied to your own life but should be done so.
