ABSTRACT

Tom O’Horgan is the director of two landmark musicals: Hair (1968), the first fully realized American concept musical; and Jesus Christ Superstar (1971), the precursor to the epic-musical era of the ’80s and ’90s. Additionally, he has been represented on the Broadway musical stage with the revue Inner City (1971), and the musicals Dude (1972), and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band on the Road (1974). Among his many other Broadway credits is the Julian Barry play Lenny, based on the life of comedian Lenny Bruce.
