ABSTRACT

Secondly, the process of postwar suburban land conversion has produced a lot of rather good housing and a lot of rather pleasant neighborhoods. Millions of families have found comfortable housing, some of it rather gracious, with modern conveniences and gadgets. Schools, churches, and other community institutions have also been developed. A whole generation of postwar suburbanites has grown up, to whom this was the norm of modern living. When the criticisms of these suburbs are raised, one must always bear in mind that after all, a great deal of pretty comfortable housing and associated developments were built.
