ABSTRACT

H w can we go about improving the process of suburban land conversion? The broad objective of change is to cure or at least reduce the disadvantages of the present process, while at the same time not losing any or

pendently of all others; however, there are major interrelationships among them, and some would importantly complement others if adopted concurrently; near the end of the chapter, we explicitly deal with this matter of interrelationships among various measures. We also consider briefly who might initiate change. Programs might be undertaken in some states, urban areas, or regions, but riot necessarily everywhere. The various measures outlined in this chapter do not constitute a specific program of suburbanization reform; far more study and discussion is needed for that. The objective here is to stimulate discussion, debate, and consideration.
