ABSTRACT
Introduction Welcome to the first stage in the development of number skills. In this level students will be working at a very basic level. As with literacy it is no good trying to do the technical work if the basics are not in place. At this level we will look at the different ways numbers can be written, basic subtraction and addition, and recognition and work with lower denomination coins and notes. We then go on to look at two dimensional (2D) and three dimensional (3D) shapes, basic sizes and some positional vocabulary. Students will see and use most of this to some degree in everyday life. So this is a good place to start.
